LAWRENCE Kan. — The City of Lawrence and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Clinton Lake Project Office announced today the planned closure of the road to the Clinton Dam north outlet area during improvement work to the City’s Clinton Water Treatment Plant Raw Water Pump Station.

The closure begins Feb. 15 and lasts through April 1, 2016. The closure area begins at the City of Lawrence Mutt Run parking lot and goes to the Clinton Dam north outlet area with all public access, to both vehicles and pedestrians, prohibited. 

Beginning April 1, 2016 until November 1, 2016 vehicle access to the north outlet area will be restricted beginning at the fisherman's parking area east of the outlet. The north outlet stairway down to the channel will be accessible by foot from the parking lot.

The Mutt Run parking lot will remain open during construction. The construction will not affect walking or hiking access within the Mutt Run area. Construction will not affect access to the channel from the south outlet area.

Visitors to Mutt Run or the outlet channel should be aware of increased traffic and activity associated with the construction project.
