KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Officials are hosting a public outreach meeting in Brunswick, Missouri, on Monday, December 11, 2023, to discuss the flood resiliency study near Brunswick, Missouri.
The meeting will be held at the Knight and Rucker Banquet Hall, 119 East Broadway St, Brunswick, Missouri, 65236. It is hosted by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Doors will open at 4:45 p.m. USACE will give a presentation starting at 5:00 p.m. providing an overview of the study, progress made to date and next steps in the study. A round table discussion to receive questions and feedback from the public and local stakeholders will occur after the presentation. The meeting will adjourn at 7:00 p.m.
The study area is along the left bank of the Missouri River and bordered by the Grand and Chariton Rivers. This area includes the City of Brunswick and the area behind Missouri River Levee System L-246 within Chariton County, Missouri.
USACE and MDNR are seeking public input about the flooding problems in the area and the factors that are important to finding a locally preferred plan to reduce the risk of flood damages and/or improve resiliency in that location. Information will be provided to the public about additional future points-in- time where the study team will ask for public input.
