Grand Opening Set for Pomme de Terre Archery Range

Published March 29, 2016

HERMITAGE, Mo.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Pomme de Terre Lake invite the public to the grand opening of the new archery range on Saturday, April 2, 2016 starting at 10 a.m. At this event Corps staff will engage with the community, host contests and award prizes.

Pomme de Terre Lake’s new public archery range is free to use by the public and was made possible through a 12-partner Challenge Partnership Agreement and Handshake Grant.

A Challenge Partnership Agreement allows the Corps to accept funds, materials, personal property, equipment and/or services from non-federal public and private groups and individuals. The Handshake Grant Program offers a source of seed money to Corps installations for worthwhile partnership projects to initiate new, or enhance existing recreation and natural resources management opportunities.

The range is handicap accessible and provides six public shooting lanes. The first four lanes have targets located at 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards. The following two lanes have targets placed at 10 and 15 meters for schools that participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program. The range is free to the public and available on a first come, first served basis. Posted safety rules apply.

The archery range is located in Hermitage, Mo. on County Road 218, just past the Pomme de Terre Lake Project Office. For additional information contact the project office at 417-745-6411.
