The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has prepared a draft Water Control Manual update for Pomme de Terre Lake, along with a draft Environmental Assessment and a draft Finding of No Significant Impact and is seeking public input on these documents.

Pomme de Terre Lake, a multi-purpose project located primarily in Hickory County, Missouri, with portions extending into Polk County, Missouri, plays a crucial role in flood risk management, recreation, water supply and environmental stewardship. The current Water Control Manual for the project was finalized and approved in 1971. Since then, site conditions – physical, environmental, ecological and social – have changed. In addition, the requirements guiding Water Control Manuals have been updated, necessitating this review and update.

USACE is seeking public comments on the draft documents during a 30-day review period that opens August 28, 2025, and will close September 27, 2025. The public is invited to review the documents and provide feedback to help inform the final Water Control Manual.

A public meeting will be held on September 10, 2025, from 5:00-6:30 PM at the Hickory County Health Department, located at 24855 MO-245, Hermitage, Missouri. USACE representatives will be present to provide information and answer questions.
