Published Oct. 2, 2019
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Harlan County Lake has announced closures to portions of the Harlan County Dam Spillway and Project Office.

Access to the stilling basin below the dam and parking areas in North and South Outlet campgrounds will be closed to the public from October 7 thru October 25. Activities related to periodic inspections of the dam and stilling basin by USACE staff account for these closures.

Dewatering activities in the stilling basin below Harlan County Dam will also be conducted during this closure. Salvage of game fish will be conducted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission with assistance from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Salvage of rough fish will not be allowed by the public or members of the dewatering team.

Beginning Monday, October 21, 2019, the visitor center located in the Harlan County Lake project office will be closed to the public as the space will be used by personnel performing the inspections. The visitor center will re-open on Monday, October 28, 2019.

Questions regarding this closure or project operations can be answered by calling 308-799-2105.
