Thank you, Julie and Steve Carr
Julie and Steve Carr began their volunteer journey with us in 2019. They came with a wealth of campground and local area knowledge. Understanding the complexity of the cost-share agreement between USACE and Clay County Parks is so valuable at Smithville Lake to help explain the difference between campgrounds managed by partnering agencies. At Smithville Lake, you can usually find Julie at the front desk selling passes, answering phones, answering questions and giving directions to visitors. Steve prefers the landscaping and woodworking aspect and helps with mowing, litter pickup, maintaining shelter houses and building bird feeders. The Carr’s are big outdoors people themselves. They enjoy walking, hiking, biking and kayaking and take their dog Molly with them on many of those adventures. They are an excellent fit at USACE Smithville Lake and we are so grateful to have them!
