Kansas Citys Levees Project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is excited to continue our great partnerships with the Kaw Valley Drainage District, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, and the City of Kansas City, Missouri and complete the final phases of the Kansas City Levees projects. Design and construction efforts have begun to raise and improve over 17 miles of levee and floodwall along the Argentine, Armourdale, and Central Industrial District levee units and complete nearly 15 years of ongoing improvements to the Kansas Citys Levees system, including the levees and floodwalls along the Missouri River. These improvements will reduce the flood risk, better the reliability and resiliency of the systems, strengthen or replace aging infrastructure, and ensure the levees and floodwalls perform during future flood events. Our goal is to complete this $453M project by 2024.
