GS-07: $49,025 - $82,537

WORK SCHEDULE: Full time

DUTIES: Serves as Project Engineer who has full responsibility for the management and administration of assigned civil works, environmental and/or military construction projects. Plans, carries out, and reports on work in progress and ensures that the contractor administers and completes the construction contract in a competent and timely manner in conformance with terms of the contract. Prepares sketches, description of the contract change, cost estimates, and evaluation of impact to the construction progress schedule. Reviews and recommends approval of contractors' construction progress schedule. Assures that the contractor is effectively administering the Accident Prevention Plan with related Control of Construction Hazards.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience includes performance of tasks such as: Performing routine engineering tasks to assist higher-level employees; Applying knowledge of engineering principles and concepts to determine applicability to the work being performed; This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience includes performance of tasks such as: Assisting with analyzing or evaluating construction problems; Applying conventional methods used to gather, analyze and/or evaluate information concerning construction projects; and establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, information sources and project team members.  This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience includes performance of tasks such as: Performing contract administration functions such as conducting negotiations, developing scopes of work, cost estimates, plans and specifications; Monitoring project milestones for timely completion; Providing contract management in the execution of construction activities for a wide range of construction projects such as military, civil works and/or environmental; and Providing recommendations and/or solutions to modify items such as standard practices, equipment, devices, or processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience includes performance of tasks such as: Knowledge of project planning and management concepts, principles, practices, and/or methodology in construction projects such as  military, civil or environmental; Reviewing and evaluating the work of team members and engineers project work, ensuring that tasks such as project reports, documents, contract plans, and specifications are following policies, regulations, and/or guidance; Preparing plans and/or scopes of work for military, civil and/or environmental construction projects; Managing complex projects and programs for cost, schedule, and/or performance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
