Welcome to Smithville Lake

We conduct a two-foot drawdown bringing Smithville Lake to 862.20 mean sea level each December and hold it at that level through Apr. 15. This action will start a little sooner in 2020 to allow construction crews to work quickly and safely without the need to demobilize for spillway releases early in the project.
Obey all navigation rules established in your state. Pay attention to and follow all regulatory buoys and be aware of lake conditions.
Drowning is the nation’s second leading cause of accidental death. Many people overestimate their swimming ability and swim beyond their limits.
Follow CDC guidelines, even when outdoors. We are not staffed to maintain/clean lake & park areas. Be cautious about touching anything. Sanitize and wash often. Practice social distancing.
Lake View Shelter is located near the Jerry Litton Visitor Center. It is available for use first come first served, or a non-refundable $50 reservation fee. Contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at 816-532-0174 for additional information.
Pelicans and cormorants are common around Smithville Lake on their migration through the area.
Zebra mussels have been confirmed at Smithville Lake. Prevent the transport of nuisance species. Clean all recreational equipment. Click the link below to learn more.
