Operation of scooters, mopeds, golf carts or off-road vehicles at Melvern Lake
Posted: 23 Apr 2012
In recent years there has been a significant increase in the use of the smaller motorized recreation "vehicles" such as motorized skateboards, scooters, electric bicycles, mopeds, etc., particularly by children, which pose the largest safety risk. Many parents feel that our parks offer the freedom to ride these machines anytime, anywhere with little regard to the child's safety. Unfortunately, this occurs primarily on the weekends when the parks are extremely busy and vehicle traffic is at its highest.

Non-reservable campsites in Minooka at Wilson Lake
Posted: 20 Apr 2012
Due to public demand, Minooka Park will now have 10 campsites that are non-reservable and available first come, first serve. Historically, Minooka Park has been 100% reservable since 1999. Reservations are allowed six months in advance and a majority of our sites were being reserved well in advance of the summer holiday weekends. By setting aside 10 electrical sites, we are now providing an equal opportunity campsite for families on a first come/first serve basis that do not have the means to plan a vacation six months in advance.
Ninety-two percent of electric sites still remain available for reservations.
These 10 sites, C 1-5 and E 1-5, will have electric hook-ups, and water will be available through community hydrants. As with all campsites, campers must occupy the site after renting it and continuous stays cannot exceed 14 days. We would also like to remind you that any campsite that is not reserved will also be treated as a first come, first serve campsite.
