Diver studies have revealed a sediment/submerged debris pile in front of the control tower at Kanopolis Lake. The Corps of Engineers has contracted for a mechanical dredging crew to remove sediment/debris for this fall/winter of 2009/2010. In preparation for this contract, the reservoir is required to be drawn down from a current elevation of 1466.87 on 1 OCT to 1462.5 this fall. Starting 2 OCT, the outlet release will be maintained at 250 cfs (cubic feet per second)until required elevation is met. This draw down will have a minimal impact on the recreation community, but we anticipate to begin elevation restoration in late winter in preparation for the 2010 recreation season.
