  • Kansas City District waiving collection of day use fees for October & November

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, announced today that it will waive the collection of fees at its day use recreation areas for the months of October and November. Fee collections were suspended earlier this year at boat ramps and swimming beaches when recreation areas were closed due to COVID-19 precautions. USACE plans to resume its day use fees in the spring of 2021.
  • Perry Lake offers off-season camping

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Perry Lake announces the availability of off-season camping at Old Town Park. The 113-acre park is located on the east side of the lake along Kansas State Highway 92, near Perry, Kansas.
  • Special permit archery hunt scheduled for Perry Lake

    PERRY, Kan. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Perry Lake announces the opening of the application process for its annual Special Archery Hunt at Longview and Rock Creek parks to be held Oct. 1 – Dec. 31, 2020 and Slough Creek park Oct. 16 – Dec. 31, 2020.  Applications are due Sept. 7, 2020. This is a specially permitted, archery-only hunting event. Hunting is not usually allowed in the park areas at Perry Lake; however, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosts this annual hunt in areas that are closed to public hunting to prevent overpopulation of deer.

    Living with dams is a shared responsibility and requires constant assessment, continuous communication and engagement with local public and emergency management agencies. The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, operates and manages 18 dams in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. Flood control serves as the primary purpose of these dams. Corps reservoirs provide many other benefits including recreation activities.

    The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Perry Lake has announced their operating plan for the 2020 recreation season. Perry Lake received historic flooding in 2019, and damages from the flooding will continue to impact the 2020 recreation season.
  • Boundary maintenance to begin at Perry Lake project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Perry Lake Project will soon begin boundary line maintenance work in the Jefferson County area. Maintenance crews will treat approximately 12 miles of the Perry Lake Project boundary beginning in December with a scheduled completion date of March 31, 2020.
