Corps seeks stakeholder involvement in Missouri River committee

Omaha, Neb.Applications for stakeholders interested in Missouri River recovery activities are being requested by the Commander of the Northwestern Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to fill vacant stakeholder member positions on the Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee (MRRIC). MRRIC is a collaborative forum for Missouri River Basin stakeholders, states and Tribes to come together and develop a shared vision and comprehensive plan for Missouri River recovery. 

The primary purpose of MRRIC is to provide guidance to the Corps and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service specific to the Missouri River recovery activities including recommendations relating to adaptive management, policy coordination, strategies, plans, programs, projects and priorities. Committee members should expect to serve three-year terms and to represent one of the following categories of interest: conservation districts, environmental/conservation organizations, hydropower, local government, major tributaries, navigation, recreation, thermal power, water quality, water supply, and at large.  The application date closes July 17, 2015.

As required by Congress through the Water Resources Development Act of 2007, Section 5018, MRRIC was formed by the Corps in 2008 specific to the Missouri River Recovery activities currently underway.
