Public Hearing held on Jameson Island Project

KDHE issues blue-green algae advisory for Milford Lake

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) samples recreational bodies of water for cyanobacteria, commonly called blue-green algae, when the agency is alerted to a potential algae bloom. When harmful algal blooms are present, KDHE, in cooperation with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism and other lake managers where appropriate, responds by informing the public of these conditions. Based upon sampling results and established health risk levels, Milford Lake is currently under an “Advisory” status. [Read More]

Corps continues repair of rock structures along Missouri River

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District continues to make repairs through the Bank Stabilization and Navigation Project to rock structures along the Missouri River from damages caused by the 2011 flood. The district has received more $31 million of Disaster Relief Appropriations Act funds to repair the rock structures. This is in addition to more than $45 million DRAA dollars already received to repair damaged levees within the district. [Read More]

Corps to hold joint public hearing on Jameson Island Project
