Beginning Friday, August 31st 2012 (Labor Day Weekend) you will no longer be allowed to transport firewood to Perry Lake that did not originate from Jefferson County, KS.
There is a destructive insect called the Emerald Ash Borer that kills all species of ash trees. This insect has been moving across the country via firewood that is transported to campgrounds. The Emerald Ash Borer has been found in Parkville, MO (Platte County) and Wyandotte County, KS.
Because of this, we are asking that you only burn local Jefferson County firewood.
SAVE OUR WOODLANDS-DON’T MOVE FIREWOOD AND SPREAD THE INFESTATION. SPREAD THE WORD!
Ask a Park Ranger for more information regarding the Emerald Ash Borer.
