Corps discontinues camping at some Kanopolis parks

MARQUETTE, Kan.-- The Kanopolis Project Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced its decision to discontinue allowance of overnight camping in the Boldt Bluff and Yankee Run Point Lake Access areas.
As Operations and Maintenance budgets decline, the USACE has proactively evaluated their recreation program with a focus on increasing efficiencies while reducing costs. It is anticipated that discontinuing camping in these areas will generate significant savings through reduced maintenance needs such as custodial, refuse disposal and mowing services typically completed by a contract work force.
Located on the southwest shoreline of Kanopolis Reservoir, the Boldt Bluff and Yankee Run Point areas have historically provided lake access, day use and overnight camping opportunities at no visitor cost.
